805: Tibetan Buddhists in Prayer
The Tibetan monk's name is Lama Kongchok Gyaltshen and the American monk's name is Gelong Nyeton. They are from the Tibetan Meditation Center in Frederick, MD.They belong to the Drikung Kaygu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The ceremony at the Prayer Vigil was an invocation of Chenrezig Meditation, the Bodhisattva of Compassion for all Sentient Beings. The use of the Drum, cymbals, bell and dorje are sound offerings to invoke the blessings of Compassion. The drums are integral part of the Vajrayana Cermonies. The shape and size of the drums will depend on each particular ritual.
